The Foundation’s Goals

The goals of the Foundation are to promote Joseph Rotblat, carry forward his vision and raise awareness of his scientific and social achievements through educational and cultural projects both in Poland and abroad.

History

The Joseph Rotblat Foundation was established in February 2016 by the efforts of three people: Tomasz Kostrzewa, Anna Muus and Joanna Roszak.

Their grassroots initiative was supported by Professor Rotblat’s family, now living in Great Britain and in the United States, as well as his closest colleagues from British Pugwash. The idea of raising awareness about Joseph Rotblat’s heritage has also received approval from Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, former Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency and 2005 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and Lech Wałęsa, former President of Poland and 1983 Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

The Foundation is a non-profit organisation whose projects are realised solely through grants and the generosity of donors.

Mission

The Foundation's mission is a continuation of Joseph Rotblat’s tireless advocacy for peace in the world and the promotion of intercultural dialogue as well as supporting individuals involved in scientific and social endeavors.

Motto

“Remember your humanity, and forget the rest.”
- Words from the Russell-Einstein Manifesto that Joseph Rotblat echoed in his speeches, including his Nobel lecture in Oslo in December 1995.
